Utilizes different methods and techniques, make modificions to effectively accomplish diagnostic ultrasound examinions. Serves as the Clinical Instructor for students on rotion from local Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics training programs. Trains Radiologists, physicians and other personnel in ultrasound principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques and equipment when required. Uses systems like the Picture Archiving and Communicions System to manipule, transfer, query and communice the digital images of all pients and crees disks for pients as needed. Operes the Teleradiology system in order to ensure the transmission of the examinion and all required paperwork to the outside Radiologist. Receives pients of all ages for examinion, verifies pient identificion and medicion allergies Explains procedures, position pient and actions to allay fears and secure maximum cooperion. Receives and reviews requests from physicians and other healthcare providers for ultrasound examinions of pients in the automed informion system or other current electronic healthcare record systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determinion, as determined by a completed background investigion. Registrion as a Registered Ultrasound Technologist (RDMS) and/or certificion by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-S). This position requires Basic Life Support training certificion from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Associion and American Red Cross. Position requires regular and reoccurring contact with children/minors under the age of 18, and a Child Background Check is required. This position is subject to a pre-employment/placement screening and random testing thereafter. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter. Required to obtain necessary immunizions (i.e., Hepitis B, annual influenza) May be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours, working either fixed or roting shift which may include on call, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. This position has been designed “Mission Essential”. Position requires approximely 5% TDY/travel. Required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment. Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinions on human pients; setting up, adjusting, opering or maintaining ultrasound and diagnostic equipment; and assisting providers in reading or evaluing ultrasound results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
