Electronics Test Engineer Job Description Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, constructing, and debugging test fixtures for new smart metering devices. This role requires hands-on experience in fixture assembly, proficiency in various testing tools, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with global teams.

Responsibilities Fixture Design and Construction:

Create and update fixture designs, including cabling and board modifications, to meet specifications from test teams for new smart metering devices. Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) with all parts needed for fixture construction.

Documentation and Review:

Accurately review documentation created by other team members and highlight any potential issues. Assist technicians in fixing high-level maintenance issues, which will come with time and domain knowledge.

Debugging and Maintenance:

Debug fixtures electrically when test fixture problems arise, accurately determine root causes, and find potential solutions. Be proficient in Windows for setup and debugging of fixture PCs. Work hands-on in fixture assembly, including soldering and cable assembly. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in electronics testing and fixture design. Knowledgeable in Python, with coding exercises included in the interview process. Proficient in using a Digital Multi Meter, Oscilloscope, and logic analyzer, with practical exercises included in the interview process. Understanding of PCB layout and stack-up for debug purposes. Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, etc. Experience with design/update designs for testing fixtures. Ability to create Bills of Materials (BOMs). Create, read schematics. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with global teams and convey technical information clearly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledgeable in Linux, with technical questions included in the interview process. Experience with any 3D modeling software (Autodesk Fusion or SolidWorks) is a plus. Work Environment This position is onsite and provides two weeks of paid time off (PTO) and holidays. The work environment includes hands-on fixture assembly and collaboration with global teams.
