OVERVIEW A
Level 3 Technician is a person who provides direct supervision and guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 security technicians in the installation of access control, video surveillance, intrusion, and intercom systems. A Level 3 Technician will commonly take on the role and associated responsibilities of a Foreman. A Level 3 Technician is not only acting in an installation management role, but he/she must also have expert industry knowledge so that they are capable of providing both management and technical direction to team members. A Level 3 Technician will typically be assigned to an “on call” service rotation because of their extensive skill set, experience, and overall range and breadth of installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance abilities that are required for service calls when other resources are not available.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Level 3 Technician is responsible for providing daily work assignments to the installation team. Level 3 Technician is responsible for managing the productivity of the installation team. Level 3 Technician is responsible for managing the quality of work performed by the installation team. Level 3 Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for the installation team. Level 3 Technician is responsible for managing team member adherence to company policies including but not limited to punctuality, attendance, dress code, conduct and safety. Level 3 Technician is responsible for communicating project staffing needs to the project manager. Level 3 Technician is responsible for communicating material and tooling needs to the project manager. Level 3 Technician is responsible for communicating project changes to the project manager.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Complete projects within the project schedule timeline. Provide clear and concise communication to the project manager. Proactively convey project needs to the project manager. Provide clear and concise communication and coordination with client team members. Provide clear and concise direction to assigned security technicians.
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
This position reports to the Field Installation Manager. This position may be assigned to support a geographic region or one or more named project teams.
COMMON TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE POSITION
Installation of access control system field devices, locking hardware and head end equipment. Installation of video surveillance system field devices and head end equipment. Installation of intrusion alarm system field devices and head end equipment. Installation of intercom system field devices and head end equipment. Installation and termination of wiring for access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm and intercom systems. Testing and troubleshooting of wiring for access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm and intercom systems. Managing the daily activities of installation team members of up to 10 members. Performing project close out system testing with the project manager and engineering team members. Preparation of as-built/redline drawings for the project closeout process. Attendance of project construction meetings with the project manager and client team members. Attendance of site walk through meetings with client team members. Attendance of project update meetings with the project manager. Attendance of project initiation meetings with the project manager. Daily reporting to the Field Installation Manager and Project Manager on project status and project needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum five years of access control system installation experience in commercial applications. Minimum five years of IP video surveillance system installation experience in commercial applications. Minimum two years of experience managing installation teams. Access control and video surveillance system manufacturer certifications or equivalent training credentials. OSHA certification or equivalent safety training. Expert level knowledge of security wiring installation and termination methods. Expert level knowledge in security industry trouble shooting methods. Expert level knowledge the use of security industry test and equipment (power meters, UTP testers, tone generators). Intermediate level knowledge of conduit forming practices. Intermediate level knowledge of IP networks and associated hardware to effectively configure and troubleshoot equipment. Intermediate level knowledge of computer systems and typical software suites such as Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be available for an “on call” service rotation. Must pass a drug screening. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must meet NYS requirements for installation, servicing or maintaining security systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position includes outside travel to customers’ premises. This position includes working in active construction environments. This position includes frequently moving equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds. This position includes frequently ascending/descending a ladder to service various security equipment. This position includes working both indoors and outdoors.
