Job Description

Automation Assembly Technician – Tool & Die, CNC Machining, Precision Assembly Omnitech Automation, Inc. 15040 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, PA 19530 Job Summary This position is responsible for the assembly, debugging, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of automated equipment, fixtures and tools developed by Omnitech. This includes equipment in development and equipment at Omnitech’s customer’s facilities. Job Responsibilities Assembly Assemble in-house-manufactured automated equipment, fixtures and tools, including mechanical assemblies, machine frames, safety guarding, and pneumatic systems. Conceptualize and fabricate set-up tools, jigs, and fixtures to assist with machine set-up. Fabrication & Machining Fabricate machine guarding and framing from aluminum extrusion, polycarbonate sheet, and sheet metal guarding. Occasional machining/fabrication of new parts or reworking of existing parts as needed. Debugging/Troubleshooting Perform mechanical debugging on in-house equipment, including making adjustments to settings and set-up. Field Service Troubleshoot, repair, and service Omnitech equipment located at customer’s facilities. Other Operate a fork truck and pallet jack as needed. Prepare automated equipment for shipment. Interact with customers, suppliers, and other individuals inside and outside of the company. Direction Received This position receives direction from the Assembly & Electrical Dept Manager. Supervision of Others This position does not have any direct reports. Qualifications – Education No formal, degreed education is required. Certificates and/or training in mechanical assembly, tool making, or machining a plus. Knowledge/Experience/Capabilities Required A minimum of 2 years of experience working with complex mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, or other systems, including experience working with: Bearings, cams, linkages, pneumatic systems, ball screws, sensors, dies, and other manufacturing equipment-related components. A minimum of 5 years of machining experience; CAM and/or conversational programming experience preferred. The ability to read engineering assembly and detail prints required (CAD drawings). The ability to lift up to 75lbs and stand throughout an entire 8-hour workday. Problem solving of mechanical systems Proficient with the use of measuring instruments (scales, calipers, micrometer, dial indicators, etc.) Preferred Tool and Die experience a strong plus Experience working for a machine designer/builder is a strong plus Basic computer competency, including the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to use CAD software to view CAD files.
