Engineering Design Technician

Vonore, TN 37885 Specifications Ability to work independently and collaboratively to design, draw, and document a variety of parts, pieces, and materials required to build and produce marine windshields and related assemblies. Proficiency in computer-aided design using Rhino3D, Inventor, and other design software to create detailed drawings of new and existing products for customers, production, and suppliers. Expertise in CAM programming to generate toolpaths and instructions for CNC machines, ensuring efficient and precise manufacturing processes. Hands-on experience in fabrication, including the use of tools such as chop saws, band saws, and other cutting tools, to construct components from raw materials. Proficiency in operating CNC routers for precision cutting and shaping of materials, ensuring high-quality production outputs. Ability to read, interpret, and build from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Strong engineering knowledge to support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and product designs. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer marine windshields, towers, and related components from ideas, sketches, customer input, and existing products through to production, including but not limited to: o Aluminum extrusion design and fabrication. o Cross-curved and flat panel glass integration. o Miscellaneous parts and pieces, including CNC-milled components. Perform machining of aluminum and stainless steel parts, converting designs to CNC and robotic applications, and creating drawings for in-house and outsourced machining, waterjet, plasma cutting, and CNC routing. Develop CAM programs to generate toolpaths for CNC routers and other manufacturing equipment, optimizing production efficiency. Utilize fabrication tools, such as chop saws, band saws, and other saws, to cut and shape materials according to specifications. Build prototypes and final products from blueprints, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards. Operate CNC routers to produce precision parts for marine windshields and other assemblies. Create 3D-printed prototype parts to test and refine designs. Scan prototypes and generate accurate technical drawings. Develop bills of materials and production order preparation sheets to streamline manufacturing processes. Design and create check fixtures and master parts to ensure quality control. Requirements Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English (both written and verbal). Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet goals and deadlines. High attention to detail and a willingness to learn. High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education in computer-aided design, industrial design, mechanical design, engineering, or a related field. Proven experience with computer design software, such as Rhino3D and Inventor; experience with surfacing software, including drawing and sweeping of extruded profiles along compound-curved surfaces, is an asset. Proficiency in CAM programming for generating toolpaths and instructions for CNC machines. Hands-on experience with CNC router operation and programming for precision manufacturing. Proficiency in fabrication techniques, including the use of chop saws, band saws, and other cutting tools. Ability to read and build from blueprints and technical drawings with accuracy. Engineering knowledge to support design optimization and manufacturing processes. Flexible availability for part-time or full-time work (30-40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with possible overtime).
