Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join a global leader in the Oil & Gas industry on a 12-month rolling contract based in Memphis, TN. This role is ideal for an experienced PLC specialist with a strong background in automation, networking, and industrial IT to drive reliability, efficiency, and connectivity across control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
PLC Programming & Configuration:
Develop, modify, and optimize Allen Bradley PLC programs using Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View, and other Rockwell Automation tools
Networking & IT Integration:
Configure and maintain Ethernet/IP, industrial networks, and automation protocols (Modbus, OPC, ProfiNet, etc.) to ensure reliable system communication
Cybersecurity & System Hardening:
Implement best practices for securing industrial control systems against cyber threats
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance
System Integration:
Work with HMI, SCADA, MES, and other control systems to enable seamless automation and data exchange
Commissioning & Testing:
Support the installation, startup, and validation of control systems in industrial environments
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, IT teams, and production staff to optimize system performance and enhance connectivity
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all automation and IT solutions adhere to industry standards, cybersecurity guidelines, and company policies
Key Requirements:
Extensive experience with Allen Bradley PLCs – ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, etc. Strong background in networking, industrial communications, and IT support for control systems Hands-on experience with Ethernet/IP, VLANs, firewalls, and remote access solutions Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, MES, and database integration (SQL, Historian, OPC, etc.) Understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial control networks Previous experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Industrial Automation is highly desirable Ability to troubleshoot and optimize PLC-based control systems in a production environment Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team What’s on Offer?
