Support Staff Job Summary The University Center at the ETSU campus in Johnson City is seeking applications for an Audiovisual (AV) Technician. This position plays a crucial role in setting up and managing sound and video equipment for a variety of live events including meetings, sports games, business conventions, and concerts. The AV Technician will be responsible for soundboard mixing, video playback, lighting enhancement, and coordinating graphics to ensure seamless event execution. The ideal candidate will be composed, self-motivated, and possess a quick-thinking aptitude, thriving in an environment that demands technical support and adaptability. Ability to service electronic systems.
Able to complete repairs and or calibrate.
Able to read diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for repair and diagnostic information.
Ability to inspect and install electronic systems.
Ability to evaluate the performance of equipment and equipment vs. recommended purchase specifications.
Able to review requests for new equipment.
Able to provide assistance for facility users.
Able to operate television equipment, video/audio equipment, and other equipment in video and television production facilities.
Ability to lift 50-70 pounds individually.
Ability to navigate around a ladder and compact spaces.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma/GED
Two years of related experience
OR
Associate’s Degree or higher in audiovisual technology or a related field, such as digital media.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Licensing certificates like the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
