Controls Engineer Job Description Ensure support for site maintenance in troubleshooting and correcting PLC control systems. This position involves supporting production and maintenance with PLC programming and manipulations, process improvements, ensuring machine safety in line with city guidelines, and leveraging Industry 4.0 knowledge to connect systems to ignition. Responsibilities Support production and maintenance with PLC programming and manipulations. Implement process improvements, such as adding new features to machines. Ensure machine safety in accordance with city guidelines, including upgrading existing or new safety features. Utilize Industry 4.0 knowledge to connect systems to ignition and integrate PLCs into sequence and cycle counts. Essential Skills Experience with Allen-Bradley, PLC programming, and controls engineering. Troubleshooting skills in PLC and HMI equipment. Knowledge of process improvements and machine safety upgrades. Familiarity with robotics and The Person PLC. Additional Skills & Qualifications Provide training and prepare new programming related to PLC and HMI equipment. Participate in project teams and offer subject matter expertise. Conduct in-house programming or review outsourced programs, including safety interlock review and testing requirements. Perform instrument loop checks and document control and instrumentation projects. Review electrical wiring schematics and electrical loop drawings for projects. Assist in developing standards and procedures for process control software and hardware. Document procedures for changes, archive existing or new programming, and coordinate workloads to ensure system integrity. Prepare programming examples and help maintain up-to-date P&ID standards. Troubleshoot complex issues to support maintenance personnel.
