Electrical & Instrumentation Designer Job Description:
Work with a project team to design the E&I portion of analyzer systems/buildings, power equipment centers, and electrical control panels. Develop detailed job plans, documentation packages, and shop fabrication packages.
Work hours:
Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm Cantonment, Fl. Pay $35-$45 per hour #1601
Responsibilities:
Creating and designing complete construction/build packages meeting the requirements of a project scope document using P&IDs and I/O lists.
Design packages may include:
o Instrument locations o Instrument indexes, instrument layout/location drawings, electrical equipment layouts, material take-offs, I/O lists, loop drawings and termination details, cable lists, block diagrams, and bills of material o Control room, analyzer and loading building layouts and designs, including lighting layouts and grounding o Single line diagrams o Cable sizing for instrumentation and low voltage wiring o Cable tray layout and sizing o 24 VDC schematics for power, control and shutdown circuits. 120VAC schematics for power and control. o DCS panel, PLC panel, junction box, and control layouts, schematics, and panel schedules o Communication systems designs using fiber optic cables, Profibus and/or ethernet o AC and DC interconnects, as well as conduit and cable schedules o Instrument loop diagrams Leading design reviews with clients and other project team members Estimating E&I design man hours based on deliverables Ensuring projects are completed with process safety as top priority, to meet the operability requirements of the client and within budget and schedule. Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Degree in Instrument or Electrical Design or equivalent work experience 5 or more years of experience in the industrial electrical and/or instrumentation design field Knowledge in the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), National Electric Safety Code (NFPA 70E), NEMA standards, some IEC symbology, OSHA, and ISA Computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Procore. SolidWorks knowledge is helpful but not required Ability to read and understand technical drawings and other documentation to translate into designed systems Know the following electrical knowledge: electrical and instrumentation grounding, reading power and control circuits, low and medium voltage power system design, instrumentation and control loop design, and instrumentation spec sheets Analytical experience, knowledge of electrically classified areas and/or plant operations or maintenance is a plus Have high ethical standards and be unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance Effective communication skills. Comfortably providing creative, alternative solutions Must be able to effectively coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a project design without deficiencies Highly motivated individual that can work productively in both a self-directed manner and as a team member Able to adapt to and thrive in a fluid environment where priorities and directions may change regularly. Open to continuous improvement with a motivation for development and learning. Possess strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
