Duties, Responsibilities & Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities•: The Design Technician 4 is responsible for creating precise and detailed construction drawings and designs using AutoCAD and other relevant software. This role emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and adherence to safe working practices while ensuring compliance with company policies and ISO standards. The Design Technician 4 collaborates closely with project teams, manages project tasks within budget and scope, and contributes innovative solutions to meet both company and client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and draft construction drawings using AutoCAD (or other required software), ensuring they meet the required standards for approval by federal, state, and local agencies. Work with a team of drafters and designers under the supervision of a project manager to support the practice. Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with some guidance. Able to review projects with customer(s) and answer design questions. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring projects meet ISO compliance requirements. Strive to achieve or exceed the budgeted individual utilization target. Attend bi-weekly or more frequent meetings with project teams to discuss progress and address any issues. Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required. Demonstrate commitment to team performance and actively participate in meetings. Complete all assigned tasks on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope. Compare field data to base plans to ensure accuracy and consistency. Design and draft construction drawings using standard engineering principles for approval by federal, state, and local agencies. Collect necessary data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs, to support project needs. Read and interpret technical documents, design manuals, and local jurisdiction details to effectively perform job duties. Complete other duties as required or assigned. Well-rounded knowledge of COAX cable, copper cable, fiber-optic cable, conduit, manhole & handhole design, and aerial is preferred Previous experience designing long-haul fiber design for hundreds of miles is a plus Candidates must also have experience working on/with civil design specific to utility relocation, including proposing the relocation of aerial, buried, underground cable design and path creation Prefer an applicant who is familiar with the permitting requirements associated with City, County, and/or DOT Right-of-Ways • Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
