The Project Technician supports the successful execution of electrical construction projects by providing technical expertise, coordinating project tasks, and assisting with design, planning, and implementation. While this role does not require an engineering degree, it demands a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and technical documentation. The Project Technician acts as a key link between Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and design documents to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams and resolve on-site issues related to installation, materials, or design discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit technical submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for review and approval.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical installations and identifying solutions for technical challenges. Project Coordination
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, work plans, and resource allocations.
- Track project progress, monitor key milestones, and ensure technical accuracy in implementation.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and compliance with technical standards.
- Ensure that field teams are working with the latest approved construction documents. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, installation logs, and test results.
- Assist in the preparation of closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, warranty submissions, and punch lists.
- Update and maintain project trackers to monitor progress and completion metrics. Material Management
- Review material takeoffs and verify quantities to ensure proper procurement and delivery for project needs.
- Track material usage on-site and identify discrepancies between actual and forecasted quantities.
- Verify the appropriate tools and materials are available for field teams and address any inconsistencies. Compliance and Quality Control
- Ensure all installations meet electrical codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify compliance with design and performance standards.
- Support the safety team by ensuring technical adherence to safety protocols. Communication
- Act as a liaison between Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and resolution of technical issues.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on technical aspects of the project. Support collaboration between office and field . Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or technical degree in construction management, electrical technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical construction or a related technical field. Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installations, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore) and standard office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and Accubid.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred). Skills and Attributes
