Controls Engineer – PLC
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
5-7 years experience required.
Open to 2 year degree with 7+ years of experience
Open to Masters with same experience
Internships will not count for experience
Technical Skills
(Required)
Ability to create PLC programs using one of the
IEC 61131 PLC
Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language
Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements
Customize PLC software and hardware templates
Understand in detail the applicable
NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA
22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls
Understand protective relays, their functions associated with Generator, and Utility protection applications
