Distribution Designer Job Description Join our dynamic Power Distribution Engineering team, contributing to the growth of our Power Sector. Responsibilities Perform detailed design work, including preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer. Provide limited direction to Designers and Technicians on assigned projects and may act as design leader on projects of minor complexity. Possess a thorough knowledge of practices and procedures in technical areas such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping, and CADD. Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with accuracy and minimal errors. Perform design services with an understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and company standards. Contribute significantly to the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions. Assist in preparing engineering calculations. Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules. Acquire on-site field data to accomplish design or evaluate equipment performance. May serve as a Project Coordinator on certain projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Power distribution Distribution design Demonstrated ability and/or experience with GIS systems, preferably Smallworld or GWD, and CADD systems (AutoCad). Experience working in both field and office environments. Utility distribution design experience with a utility or consulting engineering firm with demonstrated project capability. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering OR Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university. Other education and work experience may be considered acceptable. Ability to handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities. Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures. Demonstrated leadership and technical capability to perform job responsibilities. Must have a clear and valid driver’s license; Must be at least 21 years of age to drive on company time, including personal and company vehicle. Work Environment Work in a collaborative environment utilizing advanced technologies and equipment. Balance fieldwork with office responsibilities. Dress code is business casual.
