Job Title:
Electrical EngineerJob Description This position supports an innovation center within the Research & Development department, focusing on situational awareness technologies for Transmission and Distribution. Areas of emphasis include synchrophasor technology, next-generation control center functionalities, cybersecurity testing, new visualization approaches, DERMS platform evaluation, data analytics, and modeling and simulation with Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) hardware-in-the-loop testing capability. Responsibilities + Develop research plans to evaluate new technology. + Support and lead projects focused on deploying and evaluating emerging technologies. + Focus on tools for grid operations, including power system analysis, modeling, simulation, and big data analytics. + Integrate and work on projects involving Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS). + Apply engineering analysis to solve complex problems. + Manage multiple tasks concurrently. + Provide documentation of study assumptions and methods. + Create informative reports and presentations on projects. Essential Skills + Design and engineering expertise. + Electrical engineering background . + Systems engineering knowledge. + Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation. + Experience with big data analytics and cybersecurity. + Database management skills. + Project management capabilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) required. + Specialization in Power Systems desired. + Training in/experience with computer programming (Python, C#, SQL) desired. + Training in/experience with data science desired. Work Environment The work environment involves working within an innovation center that facilitates research, pre-operational development, assessment, and demonstration of advanced technologies in Transmission and Distribution. Technologies include Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) with hardware-in-the-loop testing capability.
