LotusWorks is hiring a dedicated and safety-focused Electrical Energy Marshal to oversee and coordinate the safe energization of electrical systems during the construction and commissioning phases of a large-scale data center project in Montgomery, Alabama. This role ensures all electrical systems are energized in a controlled, phased, and compliant manner, while working closely with construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the energization of electrical systems across all construction and commissioning phases. Maintain and enforce safe Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures throughout all energized work activities. Collaborate with subcontractors, commissioning agents, and owner representatives to align energization milestones. Maintain and update a master energization schedule, tracking all live transitions and readiness milestones. Confirm that all electrical panels, switchgear, and systems are tested and inspected before energization. Lead daily energization coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Implement and oversee procedures for temporary power systems, ensuring continuous support for construction activities. Ensure full compliance with
NFPA 70E, OSHA
regulations, and all project-specific safety and energization protocols. Identify and mitigate energy-related risks and hazards on site. Accurately document all energization events for audit, compliance, and turnover purposes. Support commissioning teams by facilitating phased energization and system availability for functional testing. Partner with Safety and Quality teams to ensure all energization activities align with QA/QC standards. Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required:
Certified in
NFPA 70E
– Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, commissioning, or facilities operations. Prior experience in data centers or mission-critical environments strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of LOTO procedures, temporary power management, and electrical system safety protocols. Proficient in interpreting one-line diagrams and electrical construction drawings. Strong communication and coordination skills with trades, contractors, and safety teams. Ability to lead and train field personnel on safe energization and electrical practices.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred). Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master, depending on jurisdiction) highly desirable.
