Senior Controls Engineer Job Description As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to travel to customer sites for project commissioning and installation, requiring between 10-20% travel. You will utilize advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles to produce logic for custom automation equipment using Rockwell’s Studio5000 design software, and create HMIs using FactoryTalk View and Ignition platforms. With minimal supervision, you will specify PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, motors, drives, sensors, and vision sensors based on customer standards and scope of work. Responsibilities Produce electrical drawings using AutoCAD software. Generate quotations for custom industrial automation applications and oversee projects through installation and commissioning. Assess, identify, and modify PLC logic and HMI programs to enhance equipment and system performance. Perform high-level troubleshooting and critical thinking to resolve electrical, mechanical, or process issues. Assist in troubleshooting machinery, equipment, components, and programs, including PLCs, HMIs, servos, and robotic systems. Support the electrical crew during machine installation and commissioning by interfacing auxiliary equipment, correcting programming and wiring errors, and ensuring customer expectations are met. Stay updated on new controls technologies, industry trends, and standards impacting customer operations. Create and modify schematic drawings using AutoCAD software. You will have hands-on experience working with equipment and witnessing the creation of physical products. The position includes domestic travel within the US, potentially up to 20-25%. The work schedule consists of four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with opportunities for overtime hours.
