Long Term Contract Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Steam Turbine Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering controls engineering solutions for Siemens Energy and non-OEM steam turbines. This includes the full lifecycle of turbine controls— from design and development to software simulation, factory acceptance testing, and on-site commissioning support.
This is a hybrid role, with approximately 80% of time spent in back-office engineering activities and 20% supporting field commissioning. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with electrical and mechanical engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure successful project delivery on time and within scope.
How You’ll Make an
Impact:
Design and configure Steam Turbine Governor Control and Auxiliary Systems, including startup logic, overspeed protection, and rotor stress calculations.
Translate SAMA logic diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives into DCS logic and operator HMI screens.
Configure and test Siemens Omnivise T3000 control systems and other programmable logic controller (PLC) platforms.
Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) using closed-loop simulation environments and present results to customers.
Provide back-office engineering support and on-site commissioning/start-up assistance during critical project phases.
Support configuration and diagnostics of hydraulic trip systems, servo valves, LVDTs, and supervisory instrumentation (e.g., BN3500, D3000, Siemens S7).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and training to customers and field service teams.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, project timelines, and safety protocols while maintaining excellent documentation and reporting.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
Minimum 7 years of experience in steam turbine controls engineering and commissioning.
Strong understanding of steam turbine systems, auxiliary components, and control logic development.
Experience with DCS/PLC systems related to turbine controls (T3000, Siemens S7, or equivalent platforms).
Background in configuring and troubleshooting turbine instrumentation and hydraulic control systems.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project-driven environment.
Strong communication, analytical, and time management skills.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with Cmaster, Toshiba, or other non-OEM turbine systems.
Exposure to control systems integration, simulation, or diagnostic testing for high-speed rotating equipment.
Familiarity with Siemens proprietary tools or training on T3000 control systems.
