Long-Term Contract (Potential for Full-Time Conversion) Our client, a major player in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join their team in Westlake, Louisiana . This position is offered as a long-term contract with the potential for full-time conversion . Compensation includes a competitive hourly rate , overtime (time-and-a-half) , and a comprehensive benefits package .
Key Responsibilities:
Manage project execution in alignment with standard project development processes and engineering best practices. Develop high-quality project cost estimates and support annual capital planning and ongoing funding approvals. Collaborate across disciplines-mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation-to ensure technical accuracy, cost efficiency, and alignment with operational needs. Create and maintain project execution plans and schedules; manage project scope, budget, and change control. Provide engineering and construction support during scheduled maintenance and turnarounds. Balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and deliverables. Interface with internal stakeholders, technical consultants, and operations teams to ensure seamless project integration. Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process for assigned projects. Design or review the design of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). Provide technical support for plant instrumentation and control issues. Design and implement reliable, cost-effective instrumentation and control systems. Assist in creating process design specifications, as well as training and operational documentation. Draft detailed specifications for procurement and construction; perform and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Conduct audits of control loops and instrumentation installations to ensure compliance and performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or a related field). 5-10 years of engineering experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas or industrial sectors. At least 2 years of focused experience in instrumentation and controls, including engineering or maintenance roles. Practical knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems and their full life cycle phases.
