Note:
No Master’s DegreeCandidates. Only a BS Degree from an ABET-accredited university.
The successful Associate Distribution Engineer candidate willsupport the following activities under the supervision of atechnical lead: Develop design and construction work packages forelectrical overhead and underground distribution systems operatingfrom 4kV through 138kV, mostly associated with programmatic worksuch as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, jointuse, and inspection reports. Comply with and Client Safetyrequirements as well as design and quality expectations. Travel tosites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office toperform engineering design work.
Perform engineering calculationssuch as:
structural analysis for wood pole loading, guyingcalculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions forrecommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
Develop permitting documents for different AHJs. Provideengineering support during construction, includingpost-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering andconstruction standards have been met. Conduct root cause analysisof outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
Associate Distribution Engineer Basic Qualifications:
Requires a BSDegree from an ABET-accredited university and less than 2 years ofprior relevant experience, OR a BS non-engineering degree and lessthan 5 years of relevant experience Experience with NESC Standards,ESRI, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation, and GIS is a plus. Proficiencyin MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required. Excellentverbal and written communication skills. Willingness to performboth field and office work. Overnight travel may be required(10-20% travel). Ability to work in outdoor environments. Abilityto utilize a personal vehicle.
