JOB DESCRIPTION

The LeadControls Engineer will serve as a technical authority, advancingthe company’s innovation strategy through the development ofindustry-leading technology solutions, the design andimplementation of best practices, and hands-on support acrosssoftware, hardware, complex system architectures, and integratedapplications. This person will act as the liaison between thecompany and customer on a project. They’ll lead a team of ControlsEngineers (who do the PLC programming) and be responsible for thesales engineering, design, and project management to develop asolution for the customer.

Responsibilities:

Commitment to companycorporate values, strategies, and goals/objectives, to drive a1-company culture of safety, customer service, quality,profitability, growth, and a merit shop philosophy. Subject matterexpert among market relevant solution platforms, best engineeringpractices, and emergent technology among key vendors’ hardware,software, and systems. Automation expert for key stakeholders amongclients, vendors, commercial partners, all company divisions’functions and their projects’ scope. Coordinate and lead internalcompany application development to drive effective problemstatement identification, innovative solution sets, and value-addtechnical designs that meet client’s project scope, quality, price,performance requirements, and constraints. Deploy innovative andreliable control system designs and upgrades via systematic methodsof testing, troubleshooting, resolution, documentation, andvalidation. Drives continuous improvement via technical mentorshipand development of relevant standard operating procedures,practices, processes, and methods. Field engineering duties, asneeded to include system start up and commissioning,troubleshooting, acceptance, and site leadership. Define anddocument control systems designs, requirements, test plans, andresults. Client proposal development support among solutions,equipment, costing, and schedule. Supply Chain collaboration andsupport. Company sales collaboration and support. Other duties asassigned.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’sDegree in Engineering or a related field. 5 years of controlsengineering design experience. Thorough knowledge of industryrelevant technology, regulations, trends, and practices: PLC, HMI,Motion Control, Networking, Safety Systems, Vision Systems, DataCollection. Familiarity with specification and design documents.

Project management experience. Ability to make independentjudgments to formulate, initiate, and administer effectivetechnical solutions. Excellent verbal and written communicationsskills; ability to communicate professionally at all levelsinternally and externally. Ability and willingness to support andmentor others. Excellent problem solving and math skills. Possess avalid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

10 years ofautomation/controls/engineering design experience. Experience inthe design of industrial plants and warehouses, central chilledwater and heating plants, water pumping stations, wastewatertreatment plants, food and dairy plants along with manufacturingand CIP processes. Working knowledge to interpret regional andinternational code requirements such as NEC, NFPA, CSA, CE, IEC,etc. Knowledge and experience among key industry providers:

Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, AutoCAD-Electrical. Ability to operateinterfaces, design controls, write technical control write-ups forautomation projects, and train customers.
