Automation Controls Engineer Position Available In Catawba, North Carolina

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and modify Allen Bradley PLCprograms for our fiber optic cable production plant.
• Design andimplement new control systems projects.
• Mentor and train juniorcontrols engineers
• Manage the controls engineering scope ofprocess improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigationprojects.
• Implement robust, cost-effective automation and processmachine control systems.
• Interface with external systemintegrators to successfully deliver fully integrated processequipment systems to ‘s facility.
• Participate in all phases ofthe project including design, fabrication, off-line integration andtesting, installation, production start-up support, training ofplant personnel, and technology transfer.

Independently followconstruction of equipment in vendors’ facilities.

Work Hours andSchedule :

• Nominal working hours are

M – F, 8 AM – 5

PM.

Educations and Experience:

BSEE / BSCS / BSME / BSMET

with 4years manufacturing experience working with PLCs / HMIs / VFDscontrolling process and automation equipment; other engineeringwill be considered with relevant work experience.

Required Skills:

• Must have experience in programming of Allen Bradley ControlLogixv20 systems or higher and the ability to generate, debug and modifyPLC code – ladder logic, structured text and function blockdiagram.
• Must be able to generate and interpret electricaldrawings using AutoCAD Electrical 2023 for systems design includingcontrol panel layouts, component documentation, and schematics.

Prepare initial CAD design layouts of both complete electricalcontrols systems and control sub-sections. Review electricaldrawing packages for conformance to standards.

• Must have theability to reach fundamental understanding of process issuesutilizing sound troubleshooting skills.
• Must have experience inprogramming of

HMI / SCADA

systems programming in a plantenvironment including higher level communications protocols.

• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices,machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, VFD andServo programming, communication protocols, and practicalapplication.
• Ensure proactive safety measures for all equipmentand processes. Seeks to identify and correct potential safety orenvironmental issues using NEC, NFPA, and other pertinent safetycodes. Ensure safety procedures, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, arealways followed.
• Work closely with support technicians to resolveequipment issues.
• Capable of executing project assignments, in ateam-based environment, with minimal supervision.
• Thoroughlycarry out assignments to completion.

Desired Skills:

• Extrusionand cable winding experience
• Entrepreneurial (able to conceiveand design a control system never demonstrated).
• Visionary(understands the big picture and can project this view).
• Knowledge of legacy controls equipment, networks, and software.
• Experience with the OSI PI (historian) interface.
• iFix 5.9 orhigher experience
• Beckhoff PLC experience.
• Strongwritten/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
