Electrical Distribution Engineer I Job Description We are seeking a motivated and skilled Distribution Engineer to join our team in Durham, NC. This role involves contributing to distribution projects by performing engineering calculations and design development. Successful candidates will receive training from experienced engineers to ensure they excel in their role. Responsibilities Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition. Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate project costs. Engage primarily in design development and coordination (90% of the time) with occasional fieldwork (10%). Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD. Understanding of Power Distribution. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering. ABET accredited 4-year Engineering degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications 0+ years of experience in the field. Experience with CAD design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, MicroStation, Inventor, or MATLAB. Valid driver’s license. Interest and passion for Power Utilities and Distribution. Work Environment This is a fully on-site position in Durham, North Carolina. The office environment consists of a blend of Designers, Engineers, and Design Technicians focused on distribution projects. The work setting encourages teamwork and collaboration in group projects. The role involves a combination of office work and occasional fieldwork, promoting a dynamic and engaging atmosphere.
