Electrical Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design school bus electrical systems using advanced electrical engineering techniques. You will be responsible for developing 3D models, installation drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials, while researching state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry to create cost-effective alternatives to current production systems. This role involves providing support for production, warranty reduction, and field service corrective actions with reliable, serviceable, low-cost solutions. The position requires fostering strong internal relationships with Manufacturing, Field Service, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments, and interfacing with Test Group personnel to prototype new systems, perform development testing, and apply test results to new designs. Responsibilities Design school bus electrical systems applying electrical engineering techniques and principles. Develop 3D models, installation drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials. Research state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry and apply the latest advances to develop low-cost alternatives to current production systems. Provide support for production, warranty reduction, and field service corrective actions with reliable, serviceable, low-cost solutions. Foster strong internal relationships with Manufacturing, Field Service, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments. Interface with Test Group personnel to prototype new systems, perform development testing, and apply test results to new designs. Ensure projects are cost-effective, functional, and friendly to down-stream departments, and compliant with all applicable regulations. Effectively communicate information to design teams and other departments. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university/college. 3+ years of related experience in product development. Proficiency in 3D CAD software. General familiarity with automotive electrical designs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior automotive design experience. Experience with CAN communication network protocols. Prior experience with PLM software developing Bills of Materials. Knowledge of electrical vehicle architecture including relays, sensors, wiring harnesses, cables, routing, and schematics. Experience with CREO software preferred. Work Environment This position requires working onsite five days a week in a manufacturing setting.
