Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide essential technicalknowledge and perform engineering work as described below. Thisposition serves as a staff engineer performing engineeringassignment of intermediate complexity. Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or AreaLead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendationsregarding technical solutions to problems of intermediatecomplexity in accordance with project requirements Develop and review specifications and design criteria Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specifymaterials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems ofintermediate complexity Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, projectmanagement, vendors and clients Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan andprocedures Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, costand schedule baselines Establish, control and report on material key quantities; provideanalysis and forecasts Provide technical support to activities associated with equipmentand material procurement and subcontracting including scopes ofwork, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor submittals Provide technical support to activities associated withconstruction administration including response to constructionrequests-for-information and field changes Other duties as assigned Basic Job Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Control Systems Engineering,Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineeringfield and minimum five (5) years of work-related experience Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department ofEnergy orders), state, and local codes and standards Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include butare not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors,and subcontractors Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state,and federal codes, statutes and guidelines Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious andtime-effective manner Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency inthe use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronicpresentation programs Experience providing engineering, procurement and construction(EPC) services on commercial or industrial projects Proficiency executing EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis,3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD)automation tools in a multi-discipline environment Discipline Specific Job Requirements Perform a broad range of I&C design activities, includingdesign definition, control systems architecture and development,digital systems, PLC, DCS, network configuration, logicdevelopment, network switches, process controls, P&IDdevelopment support and review, HMI, communication protocols,routing, and layout, SIL, and procurement activities Prepare and modify instrument and control systems design documents(e.g., instrument datasheets, Input/Output wiring diagrams,schematics, panel layouts, logic diagrams, cable schedules, andinstrument installation details) Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves,relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and otherinstrumentation Create instrument index and datasheets and generate reports inIntergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation database Develop intermediate complexity control systems narrativespecifications Develop basic control systems logic diagrams and/or cause andeffect diagrams Represent control systems and participate in model reviews Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems(DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Safety InstrumentedSystems (SIS) hardware and software applications; monitor

design developed by the design group Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer license Practical field experience EPC project experience for the following industries: U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal GovernmentAgency Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD Proficiency with Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) Intermediate knowledge of: Specifying instrumentation Control systems procurement activities Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) representation; canrecognize/report problems associated with control systemsrepresentation on P&ID Developing control strategies and represent on P&ID Instrument design and installation requirements
