Established Design Engineering and Consulting firm located in southeast U.S., headquartered in Asheboro, NC, and with a branch office in Spartanburg, SC. Clients include electric utility companies (Investor-Owned, Municipals, Cooperatives, and State-Owned),

Power Agencies, Military Bases, and Industries Responsibilities:

Work with a team on electrical design projects from the conceptual and study stage through completion of construction Projects typically include electric power substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, load-side generation facilities, SCADA systems, fiber optic communication systems, and industrial distribution systems. System studies typically include short circuit, arc flash, protective coordination, load flow, cost of service, rate, and economic feasibility Prepare electrical equipment specifications and data sheets, technical bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations Review electrical equipment, vendor drawings, and data Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers Apply knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry Field data collection for design/study projects Quality review of production drawings, calculations, and specifications Prepare and present technical reports for clients Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies All other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements:

Experience with at least one type of Analysis software (e.g. SKM PowerTools, Eaton’s CYME, Aspen One-Liner or similar) Experience with Calculation software (e.g. MathCAD or similar) Familiar with AutoCAD drafting Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors Critical thinking skills and ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills Ability to travel 15% Experience with NFPA, IEEE, and NETA testing standards and practices
