About the Role
My client, a leading engineering and construction firm, is seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer to support design and construction projects across a range of critical infrastructure sectors. As part of a highly skilled electrical engineering team, you will work on complex and meaningful projects that positively impact communities, with opportunities to leverage advanced engineering tools and technologies. This is a full-time, regular position based in Latham, NY, with no relocation support provided.
Responsibilities
Design complex electrical systems including electric master system plans, power systems, generation models, facility power systems, and renewable energy systems.
Conduct electrical studies and calculations including lighting simulations, power system analysis, communications, fire alarm, and security systems.
Develop technical documentation and white papers to contribute to internal technical knowledge sharing.
Conduct field reviews to validate design assumptions and requirements.
Collaborate with business development teams to support proposals and client engagements.
Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to enhance visibility.
Mentor junior staff, providing technical oversight and development support.
May oversee project work by less experienced engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for formal education).
Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally depending on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience designing power systems in water, wastewater, industrial, federal, or transit sectors.
Proficiency in medium and low-voltage power distribution design.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, and other relevant standards.
Skilled in power system analysis software such as SKM Power Tools and ETAP.
Key Skills
Advanced knowledge of CAD (3D and 4D).
Strong engineering design principles.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent communication skills.
Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
