Scope of PositionEngineers in the Manufacturing Technology & Engineering divisionwork in a vibrant and dynamic environment. Our engineers travelextensively throughout North America, primarily East Coast of theUS, to various manufacturing facilities. Engineers work on assignedprojects in support of the engineering portfolios of all of ourdivisions. Corning NY is home base. Some projects will be completedlocally. Frequently, our engineers work within manufacturingfacilities through process engineering, equipment design andinstallation, measurements systems, and software applications formanufacturing. In this role you will serve as an electricalcontrols resource for manufacturing process improvement and capitalexpansion projects. You will manage electrical and controls scopeof assigned projects. Project focus will be implementation of PLCbased automation in Cornings manufacturing plants and processes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Be assigned to engineering projectteams that are responsible to deliver robust, cost effectiveautomation and process machine systems to Corning’s manufacturingplants and processes Work with project team to solve difficultautomation problems, resolve project related issues, and developfundamental understanding of technical / process requirementscritical to system success Participate in the development ofcontrol architectures, control functional specification, and systemintegration requirements that will satisfy process andmanufacturing requirements Interface with external systemintegrators and machine builders to successfully deliver fullyintegrated process equipment systems to Corning’s plants on-time,on-budget, and that satisfy performance measures Activelyparticipate in all phases of the project including design,fabrication, off-line integration and testing, installation,production start-up support, training of plant personnel, andtechnology transfer Report on project activities on apre-determined basis. Ensure results meet the customer’srequirements as well as applicable national and internationalequipment design standards. Requirements BS in Computer orElectrical Engineering 0-2 years electrical/controls experienceSolid understanding of fundamental engineering principles Excellentverbal and written communications skills Excellent problem-solvingskills Results oriented and high level of dedication. Able to workin any stage of innovation and handle risk of failure Aim to learnnew technologies and processes quickly Understands how to balancepursuit of fundamental understanding with driving forward businessneeds Able to work effectively in a team environment Familiar withProgrammable Logic Controllers(Rockwell or Siemens) or devices suchas Arduino and Raspberry Pi Familiar with control systems design,programming, and closed loop control systems Familiar with networkdesign and addressing Ability to work in a team based environmentSound problem solving and decision making processes and skillsFamiliar with 2D or 3D design software such as AutoCAD andSolidWorks Knowledge of programming languages such as C#, Python,HTML, MATLAB Ability to interpret and modify electrical schematicsDesired Skills Manufacturing experience or desire to work in amanufacturing environment. Exposure to robotics Knowledge ofcontrol theory and control strategies Experience with PID Controlsand control loop tuning Ability to interpret and modify electricalschematics This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $68,419.00 – $94,077.00 assumingfull time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant isdependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but notlimited to geographic location, market demands, experience,training, and education.
