What They Do:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of Specialty Coatings and Chemicals for the Printing and Packaging industries, as well as one of the largest suppliers of inks and coatings in North America.

THE ROLE

We are searching for a talented Electrical Engineer who will serve as the technical lead on electrical and electronics engineering, hardware design, and electrical safety for our client. In this role you will be managing and performing our client’s design and manufacturing efforts to always be on the cutting edge of the inks and coatings industry. This role is onsite in East Providence, RI.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Technically lead or support projects, providing design and direction. Spec and Implementation of motors, sensors, and control topologies for industrial machinery and production lines. Design, ECAD schematic capture, layout, and debug of Industrial Control Panels. Assembly and wiring of first article panels and electrical assemblies. Managing production with 3rd party vendors for the manufacturing and debug of Industrial Control Panels Design, development, documentation, and assembly of hardware test fixture systems. Design, development, documentation, and assembly of electrical modifications to lab equipment and printing presses. Support development equipment specification documents and operator manuals Hardware test planning and execution. Primary point of contact for electrical safety as dictated by relevant standards from

NFPA, OSHA, UL, ISO, CE

etc. Integration and native/script programming of collaborative robots. Stay up to date with the latest industry technologies. Manage the electrical engineering ecosystem, including equipment needs, equipment calibration, inventory/spare components, etc.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering (or similar). 5+ years of experience in electrical and/or electronics hardware design. Experience with product development Experience in designing, building, and documenting industrial and PLC controlled industrial panels and wire harnesses Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and UL-approved industrial panel design Proficiency in ECAD design software Test equipment proficiency (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, function generator, etc) Capable of debugging systems using test equipment Proficient in schematic capture and layout tools Proficiency in conducting electrical signal quality analysis and rectifying issues Experience with Life Cycle Analysis Familiarity with regulatory standards such as NFPA79, UL508A, and CE Ability to manage design controls, develop and define requirements and test protocols Excellent oral and written communication skills Flexible and agile; able to change focus and handle multiple tasks at once Works well as part of a multidisciplinary project team Positive thinking, open minded, problem solver Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure Desire for technical leadership Ability and willingness to mentor and manage junior engineers

NICE TO HAVE

Experience using Solidworks Electrical Experience designing industrial panels with Beckhoff PLCs Experience with Industrial Standards Approval (UL, NFPA, CE) Experience with Industrial Communication Protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, IO-Link, etc) Experience conducting electrical signal quality analysis and rectifying issues
