Job Description
Controls Engineer Manage the project through its various stages from quotation to final customer acceptance. Attend discussions with customers regarding their expectations and preferences, and collaborate with mechanical engineering teams to align on expectations. Develop cost estimates for various equipment types and methods, including sizing control panels and electrical services. Conduct on-site inspections and meetings with plant engineering and maintenance as needed. Responsibilities + Lay out and create electrical drawing packages in accordance with existing standards and conform to customers’ electrical specifications and codes. + Create controls and device communication schemes and layouts. + Develop control panels’ Bill of Materials, layouts, and schematics. + Specify and acquire all required parts and materials. + Oversee panel construction and conduct test checks upon completion. + Develop programs for PLCs and Safety PLCs. + Develop required HMI screens based on similar equipment specifications. + Coordinate with installation departments, field electrical personnel, and customers regarding installation requirements, locations, and power drops. + Assist with on-site installation whenever possible. + Travel as required throughout the project duration, including meetings with customers, on-site inspections, installation, and commissioning. + Provide required documentation for control systems, schematics, manuals, and training. + Specify electrical purchased parts. + Oversee PLC program development and commissioning. + Provide on-site direction for the electrical aspects of installation. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering + 8+ years of experience + Proficiency in PLC Programming with platforms such as Mitsubishi or Omron + Experience in taking mechanical layouts and executing all controls, including ordering sensors, ensuring safety, designing control panels, and writing all programming + Experience with commissioning onsite + Familiarity with highly automated manufacturing equipment Work Environment This role involves working in both office and shop environments with travel required. The position demands flexibility to be on-site as needed, ensuring successful project execution and installation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 – $60.00/hr.
