The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trustedprovider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, controltechnology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and naviesaround the world. Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled andexperienced Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join ourdynamic team. As a key member of our power conversion team, youwill lead the design, development, and implementation of advancedpower electronic systems and components for high reliability Navyand commercial applications. Your contributions will beinstrumental in driving innovation and ensuring mission-criticalperformance, reliability, and sustainability in criticalapplications. What You Will Do Lead the design and development ofpower electronic systems, including converters, inverters, andcontrol systems, from concept to production. Define technicalrequirements and specifications based on project goals and customerneeds. Conduct detailed analysis, simulation, and modeling of powerelectronic circuits and systems. Collaborate closely withcross-functional teams including hardware engineers, softwareengineers, and mechanical designers to develop power electroniccomponents and systems. Perform design verification, testing, andvalidation to ensure compliance with Customer and contractspecifications and performance requirements. Apply Design for X(DfX) methodologies including but not limited to Design for Cost,Design for Test, and Design for Manufacturability into the productsbeing developed. Drive continuous improvement initiatives relatedto power electronics design processes and methodologies. Mentor andprovide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a cultureof innovation and excellence. Education & Experience RequirementsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or arelated field; advanced degree (MBA or PhD) preferred Proven trackrecord of at least 8 years in the design and development of powerelectronic systems, preferably in power conversion or electricdrive Expertise in designing high-frequency switching powerconverters, inverters, and DC/DC converters Proficiency insimulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, MathCAD, PSpice, orequivalent Strong understanding of thermal management, EMIconsiderations, and reliability engineering principles Excellentproblem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complexissues Effective communication skills and the ability tocollaborate across teams and functions Demonstrated leadershipexperience in guiding engineering teams and projects Candidatesmust be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed byDoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance bythe US government within a reasonable time after commencement ofemployment.

Other preferred qualifications include:

magneticcomponent design experience, experience in digital control of powerelectronic systems, working knowledge of military standards forpower quality and EMI, experience with OSHA and

NFDA 70E

ElectricalSafe Work practices, medium voltage design experience U.S.Citizenship required. This position may require an active DODsecurity clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within areasonable time after commencement of employment.
