Product Sustainability Engineer Location:
Duluth, GA or Broomfield, CO Pay :
$100,000 to $115,000 DOE Client is not able to provide relocation assistance or sponsorship. Local candidates only. The primary responsibility of the Product Sustainability Engineer is to play a key role in supporting the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and driving continuous product improvements. This includes managing technical product documentation, making minor design revisions, and ensuring seamless collaboration with contract manufacturing partners. The role requires proactive problem-solving and close interaction with both engineering teams and manufacturing partners to enhance product manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and overall product performance. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering 2 – 4 years of experience in electronic product development Strong knowledge of the product development process for electronic products In addition, experience or knowledge of the following is desirable: Circuit design and PCB layout, various CAD tools (Altium, SolidWorks), injected molded plastics design, custom engineered components, processors and microcontrollers, software development, safety/regulatory certification testing (FCC, UL, CSA, CE, etc.), electronics manufacturing process, and surface mount and thru-hole PCBA rework Excellent personal skills with the ability to work easily with others Must be a proactive “self-starter” who can work well without constant supervision Flexibility in handling a challenging, multi-tasking workload Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Demonstrated problem identification and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate needs and objectives clearly to project team and internal stakeholder Demonstrated initiative and energetic resolution of challenges. Responsibilities Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process with contract manufacturing partners Act as the liaison function between Engineering and contract manufacturing partners for issues, problems, and improvements Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction opportunities Work with contract manufacturing partners to improve the manufacturability of new and existing products Work with contract manufacturing partners to develop, implement, and update manufacturing test strategy and test equipment Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and coordinate the review and approval of required parties Perform product documentation updates and revisions throughout the lifecycle of the product Assist with the development and maintenance of product requirements, bills of material, assembly documentation, and test specifications and protocols Identify and qualify alternate components due to obsolescence, availability, pricing, or risk mitigation Coordinate and support prototype builds Use electronic test equipment to perform product verification testing Support regulatory testing with certified labs:
