The Data Engineer will serve as a key resource, specializing in building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and integrating AI/ML models into data workflows. The role will work independently and collaboratively to facilitate data analytics related to wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems and supportive information. This role involves close cooperation across a broad set of stakeholders within advisory and analytics business lines. The role may be hired as an Associate Data Engineer or Data Engineer commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications. Roles and Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable data systems supporting technical advisory and analytics consultancy. Lead data engineering, overseeing infrastructure and collaborating with teams to embed AI/ML models and agents into workflows for process optimization. Manage historical data, databases, and integrate AI/ML tools to enhance data processing, analysis, and predictive capabilities. Gather requirements from consultants and analysts to deliver tailored solutions; identify and manage key data sources for technical and techno-commercial analysis. Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes for diverse sources. Align US data systems and AI solutions with global standards in partnership with Global IT (Scotland). Maintain thorough documentation for data systems, processes, and AI workflows. Stay current on trends in data engineering, renewables data systems, and AI/ML applications. Provide expert guidance on data management and AI tools; deliver projects on time, within scope and budget, with regular updates. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field. Proficiency in Python and AI applications, especially Microsoft Copilot and related tools. Strong knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases. Experience with ETL tools, data pipeline development, and AI/ML model training and deployment. Ability to work independently as the sole data engineer/AI specialist in a consultancy. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, including translating technical topics for non-experts.
