 As Needed Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Civil Space Engineering, Program Operations & Integration to join its Civil Space Engineering Operating Unit. This senior leadership role is pivotal in advancing Astrion’s mission support to NASA and commercial space customers. The Director will contribute to strategic and operational leadership across a dynamic portfolio of programs, driving mission success, innovation, and business growth. We’re seeking a forward-thinking leader with a passion for space exploration and deep expertise in NASA program execution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of managing complex technical programs, building collaborative partnerships, and integrating efforts across multidisciplinary teams to meet evolving customer needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related technical field. At least 20 years of experience in project and/or program management, with a focus on NASA contract execution. A minimum of 5 years of direct experience working with NASA customers, specifically at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) and/or Johnson Space Center (JSC). Exceptional communication skills—oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation. Highly self-motivated and collaborative, with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Master’s degree (MS or MBA) in a technical field or business management Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Experience supporting NASA-industry partnerships in space science or technology Proven leadership experience managing diverse, geographically distributed teams

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead project and program management activities across a portfolio of NASA and commercial space contracts Provide integration and operational support across all contracts and initiatives within the Operating Unit Oversee the successful execution of existing programs, ensuring technical, schedule, and financial performance Support strategic planning and business unit leadership initiatives Drive the growth and expansion of specialized technical services in alignment with customer and mission needs Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure program alignment with business goals Foster strong relationships with NASA and commercial customers to support long-term partnership success What We Offer Competitive salaries
