Primary Responsibilities Provide senior leadership for a talented group of project engineers in the application of project engineering to space projects Mentor and guide project engineers for improved understanding of project engineering application and career development Foster the implementation of creative solutions to in the execution of project engineering for high reliability space systems Coordinate project engineering across multiple civil and defense space projects Manage section managers and branch staff Conduct Branch and management staff meetings Staff planning for 25+ branch members Play a key role in proposal and business development opportunities Basic Qualifications BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience In-depth understanding of project engineering & project management with at least 5 years of experience with project engineering, preferably on hardware systems development programs Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience with formal line management responsibilities to include employee tasking, time charging oversight, performance assessment, and performance recognition. Candidate must have strong leadership credentials, good communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate US Citizenship required Preferred Qualifications Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a group and independently Demonstrated ability to lead a team through change Experience effectively communicating within a team environment and have experience mentoring & guiding team members Desire and commitment to improve capabilities of their team Experience with supply chain management and ability to work with suppliers to help them meet both hardware and non-hardware deliverable requirements, is preferred.
