ENGINEERING MANAGER

Description:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing SeaArk’s Product Development and Engineering Department, ensuring that all boat designs, systems, and structures meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and compliance. This role requires a hands-on designer who can balance long-term product strategy with daily production demands, compliance oversight, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
Department & Project Management Lead the engineering and product development department, setting priorities and managing timelines for new models and system updates. Coordinate prototype builds and product improvement initiatives. Participate in strategic planning and 5-year product road mapping. Boat Design & Drafting Design boat hulls, structures, and onboard systems (electrical, fuel, plumbing) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings for production. Regulatory Compliance Ensure all designs comply with USCG, NMMA, and ABYC standards. Maintain annual certifications through seminars, training, and exams. Serve as the company’s internal compliance specialist. Warranty & Support Oversight Supervise the warranty/repair shop and personnel. Coordinate warranty repair work, part fabrication, and vendor-supplied replacement parts. Collaborate with Customer Service to diagnose and resolve field issues. Supplier & Equipment Development Attend trade shows such as IBEX to explore new materials and equipment. Meet with vendors to evaluate emerging products and technologies. Research and recommend fabrication improvements and new tooling solutions. BOM & Process Oversight Oversee Bill of Materials (BOM) input for all boat models (transition of this responsibility may occur in the future).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D modeling). Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and related MS Office tools. Deep understanding of boat structure, marine systems, and aluminum fabrication. Familiarity with ABYC, USCG, and NMMA compliance standards. Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects across production and development. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies. Background in marine manufacturing or recreational aluminum boats. Prior management or supervisory experience in a design or engineering environment.
