Job Description

Vice President Civil Engineering Location:
Stepney, CT Compensation:

$150,000 – $200,000 We are seeking a Senior Land Development Engineering Professional with over 20 years of experience in Civil Engineering to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team and contributing to the development of an expanding firm. Responsibilities include managing the planning, design, permitting, specification preparation, septic design, stormwater calculations, and technical reports for a variety of land development projects. You will have the opportunity to oversee projects from initial concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team while contributing to the firm’s growth. Oversee all aspects of land development projects, including planning, design, permitting, and the preparation of technical specifications. Prepare septic designs, stormwater calculations, and ensure compliance with water quality standards. Manage and deliver technical reports, proposals, and sub-contractor cost estimation. Develop and maintain client relationships and represent the firm in presentations to municipal agencies. Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff members.

Required Qualifications:

Proven track record of successful land development projects in Connecticut. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A valid Professional Engineer (PE) License in Connecticut. At least 20 years of experience in site/civil land development engineering projects. Strong knowledge of Connecticut’s land use entitlement processes and state/local regulations. Familiarity with zoning laws and the ability to present to municipal agencies. Strong client development and management skills, with a “seller/doer” mentality. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite. Expertise in hydrologic/hydraulic design, including SWPPP preparation and water quality compliance. Experience in writing technical reports and proposals, and estimating subcontractor costs. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Self-starter with the ability to manage, mentor, and lead a team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills. Highly respected and well-connected within the local market.
