Full Job Description PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for engineering design accuracy and fulfilling the contractual engineering design obligations of TSG’s water and wastewater treatment plants and the Engineering team who designs them.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the overall design, implementation and completion of assigned water/wastewater engineering projects Manages the engineering team and mitigates issues ensuring designs are delivered to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints Manages client relations, expectations and communication for any ongoing designs under their supervision Performs site visits and takes detailed notes to assist in cost estimation and feasibility Assists with the installation and commissioning of projects including use of power and hand tools Assists in the design and preparation of plans, specifications, budgets, timelines, resources and cost estimates for changes, additions, deletions to current and new engineering projects and budget preparation Coordinates the preparation, review and approval of engineering analyses and specifications and develops and maintains various reports Develops and modifies engineering theories, precepts, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with TSG’s quality standards and applicable regulations Initiates and maintains extensive contact with team members and others to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget Assists in providing consultative services to management relating to sound engineering and environmental practices Assists in representing TSG to various groups Presents technical and other reports defining project progress, problems and solutions Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve stated goals Prepares and reviews engineering contracts to ensure feasibility, making recommendations and inspects contractual services for compliance with contract to determine appropriate construction methods Provides in-house training and cross training Prepares current and accurate costing; formulates cost models and quotes Maintains professional and technical knowledge through ongoing learning processes Creates and monitors current bill of materials (BOM), methods, materials and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities Confers with team members, owners, consultants, engineers, architects, contractors and others to plan and implement projects, anticipating and resolving issues Works with team members regarding finance, purchasing, planning and building inspections and may purchase supplies, tools, materials and equipment Sets priorities, work schedules and inspects work in progress and on completion; preparing periodic status reports Utilizes Microsoft Word and Excel (and similar programs) in daily activities Attends work on a continuous and regular basis and works effectively with others Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Process Engineering or related field; and at least seven (7) years of full-time wastewater treatment or desalination water treatment process engineering experience; at least two (2) years of which are in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. PMP certification is preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
A valid driver’s license is required at time of hire and a valid Passport is required within three (3) months of hire. Must hold a current State of Florida engineering license or be eligible to transfer another state’s engineering license to Florida within ninety (90) days.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
This position reports to the Vice President Design & Construction.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
Has direct supervision of the Project Engineer and Process Engineer positions.
