Provide regional, market and multi-sectorleadership and cross-sector collaboration to develop and lead WSP’sports electrification and decarbonization practice nationally tosupplement our industry-leading port planning and infrastructuredesign team. Focus of this role is on portmodernization/electrification projects, cruise and port shore powerworks, renewable energy projects and maritime zero emission andalternative fuel programs, and microgrid systems.

Responsibilitiesinclude providing subject matter expertise (SME), leading technicaldeliverables, and delivering infrastructure projects and programswith a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industrystandards for design, safety, and functionality. Responsible forSME innovation and administration, providing corporate compliancewith all Local, State, and Federal engineering, construction, andsafety regulations, and providing strategic and consistentdirection to address current and future challenges in a large-scaleand multi-faceted business organization. Hands-on understanding ofIEEE and/or equivalent practices, electrical load calculations,procurement of transformers/generators, and switchracks, and portoperations including STS quay cranes, semi/fully automatedcontainer handling equipment (ARMGs, eRTGs, ASCs), electricvehicles is desired.

Your Impact Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the design,implementation, and administration of practice within the nationalmaritime business line. Lead execution of large and multidisciplinary portelectrification and decarbonization projects focusing on captureplanning and successful pursuit of public, private and federalmaritime projects, developing contributors who know what they arerequired to do and by when, preparing and overseeing PS&Epackages and relevant project budgets, monitoring internal andexternal events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactoryperformance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors,contract work, and employees. Provide expert technical assistance on various engineering,design, and construction issues relating to port electrificationand decarbonization systems for projects. Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and thesuccessful execution of port electrification and decarbonizationwork for current and potential clients nationally in conjunctionwith regional maritime leadership and WSP Energy businessline. Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations,and meetings. Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipelinedevelopment of port electrification and decarbonization work forWSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus oninfrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design,and strategic consulting and program/construction management). Accountable for the profitable performance of the individualprojects/identified scope and associated successful completionwithin the specified area. Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels withapplicable Federal, State, and Localengineering/design/construction laws, codes, policies, andregulatory requirements. Oversee internal vision and mission for the engineeringdiscipline, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy,and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, and clientvalue ratings are continuously improved. Lead engineering discipline meetings and provide continuingeducational opportunities for area of responsibility, with focus onfostering innovation, development, and quality project deliverywithin the discipline. Serve as the engineering discipline’s representative/liaison toa variety of external entities including Federal, State, and LocalAgencies, Clients, Subcontractors, architects, industry-relatedgroups, and various government and community entities. Foster cross-collaboration with energy business line. Provide senior leadership for proposals and project workscopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for theengineering discipline. Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documentsfor complex projects and initiatives that result in soundengineering and regulatory conclusions. Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary projectteams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice toclients. Provides performance guidance and proactive leadership toassigned managers and staff with the focus on staff retention,development, and growth. Develop business contacts and a client base associated withport electrification/decarbonization industry, identify andstrategize on business development opportunities, and cross-sellother WSP capabilities. Remain current in latest port electrification anddecarbonization/alternate energy techniques and practices. Beacquainted with EPA Clean Ports programs and other federal andstate funding resources as it relates to port electrificationand/or decarbonization works. Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplinesto provide future ready solutions for clients. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regardingcompany funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code ofConduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by businessneeds.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely relateddiscipline. 12+ years of relevant post education experience in portelectrification and/or decarbonization design with at least 5 majorcontainer terminal and/or port alternative energy projects. Engineer license required (multi-state preferred). Advanced proficiency with port electrification anddecarbonization principles, practices, process, design/build,standard of care, and the application to project work-relatedissues. Extensive advanced proficiency with terminal electricalequipment/infrastructure design. Advanced knowledge of appropriate marine, port, and coastalconstruction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, andrecord-keeping requirements as it relates to electrification anddecarbonization projects, and the business impact upon theorganization. Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, andmanaging multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs,documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of businessincluding but not limited to developing PS&E packages. Technical reports, and cost estimates. Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skillswith the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively,and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of theorganization. Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills withattention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in apressure work environment focused on performance and growth. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources,including senior management, clients, architects, and company-widestaff, including those with whom no formal hierarchicalrelationship exists. Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrateflexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet businessneeds. Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, loadcalculations, discipline-specific design software (i.e., ETAPS orequivalent), technology, math principles, predictive models,spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abilityto abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassmentpolicies. Limited Travel may be required to meet with clients, developopportunities, and address project-specific requirements.

PreferredQualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering. 20 years of Professional Experience.
