The University of Miami/UHealth department of Clinical Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Biomedical Engineering to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.
Core Summary The Manager, Biomedical Engineering assumes system-wide responsibility for managing quality assurance and projects related to clinical technology. Moreover, this position provides guidance and oversight to biomedical staff, and manages adverse event reports with regards to medical equipment.
Core Responsibilities Oversees all recalls on medical equipment, including management of vendors’ responses and actions.
Works with principal investigators, and manages equipment evaluations.
Ensures compliance with policies, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations.
Prepares performance reports for medical equipment.
Department Specific Functions The Manager of Clinical Engineering – Imaging assumes system-wide responsibility for managing quality assurance and projects related to imaging technology. This position provides guidance and oversight to imaging staff, manages adverse event reports concerning imaging equipment, and ensures that all imaging systems are adequately supported and maintained across all facilities. The Manager works closely with the Director of Clinical Engineering – Imaging Services to develop strategies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Imaging Equipment Oversight:

Manages the maintenance, repair, and quality assurance of imaging equipment, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Vendor Management:

Collaborates with vendors to ensure timely responses to equipment recalls, service issues, and technology updates, specifically related to imaging devices.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensures all imaging equipment complies with policies, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations.

Project Management:

Leads projects related to the acquisition, installation, and upgrade of imaging technology, coordinating with multiple departments to ensure smooth transitions.

Budget Management:

Administers the department’s budget concerning imaging services, monitors expenditures, and ensures cost-efficiency while maintaining high standards of service.

Policy Development:

Sets performance standards and develops department policies and procedures focusing on imaging technology.

Education and Training:

Plans and coordinates education initiatives for staff related to imaging devices and associated systems.

Strategic Planning:

Collaborates with leadership to develop strategic plans for imaging technology management, focusing on innovation and sustainability.

Performance Reporting:

Prepares and presents performance reports concerning imaging equipment to senior leadership.
Oversees the clinical equipment/systems under their care, focusing specifically on imaging devices.
Works closely with hospital IT to ensure that imaging devices are properly integrated into the network and function securely and efficiently.
Manages the inventory of all imaging devices, ensuring that all additions, deletions, and changes are tracked accurately.
Coordinates with the Clinical Engineering Management team to drive improvements in imaging systems and processes.
Provides technical guidance to staff and serves as a resource for troubleshooting complex imaging device issues.

Core Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required, imaging technology management preferred.

Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

Strong understanding of imaging modalities and technology lifecycle management.
Experience with project management for imaging equipment installations and upgrades.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with imaging equipment vendors and service providers.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
