Remote About the
Role:
You will lead substation projects from the initial concept through construction and commissioning. This role involves working closely with project managers, training and overseeing external engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Oversee substation projects from conception to execution.
Early Stage Support:
Collaborate with project managers to define engineering requirements.
Training and Oversight:
Train and supervise external engineers to ensure compliance with standards.
Consultant Management:
Secure and manage engineering consulting resources.
Coordination:
Work with stakeholders to secure sites and necessary permits.
Service Sourcing:
Competitively source and manage geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.
Representation:
Represent the E&C team in meetings, providing updates on progress and risk management.
Documentation Review:
Support the review of interconnection documents to ensure compliance.
Material Management:
Manage major material orders to avoid delays and budget overruns.
Template Updates:
Provide feedback to update project templates.
Collaboration:
Work with various engineering disciplines to prioritize tasks.
Safety and Efficiency:
Ensure projects are completed safely and cost-effectively.
Commissioning Support:
Assist with project commissioning activities.
Legal Support:
Support legal filings and hearings.
Design Collaboration:
Work with component manufacturers to adapt designs.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
Experience:
7+ years in substation design and engineering of high voltage projects.
Skills:
Strong project engineering or management experience. PMP and/or P.E. certification is a plus.
Travel:
Some travel required within North America.
