Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Vice President of Construction to lead operations for a newly established division within one of North America’s leading residential homebuilders. This division is part of a recent organizational restructure, aimed at enhancing regional agility, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in residential construction, strong leadership skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams. As VP of Construction, you will play a pivotal role in shaping construction strategy, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality homes, and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of field operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:

Set the construction vision and execution strategy for the division, aligned with broader organizational goals. Lead the transition and scaling of construction operations for the new divisional structure.

Operational Management:

Oversee all aspects of construction across multiple communities—ensuring quality, safety, timelines, and budget adherence. Optimize processes to improve build cycle times and margin performance.

Team Development:

Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing construction team, including directors, area managers, superintendents, and field staff. Establish a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner closely with land development, sales, purchasing, warranty, and customer experience teams to ensure a seamless build-to-close process and outstanding homeowner satisfaction.

Process Improvement & Innovation:

Identify and implement best practices in construction management, technology, and cost control. Leverage data to drive operational decisions and standardize key performance indicators (KPIs) across the division.

Risk Management & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships to mitigate risk and support long-term partnerships.

Qualifications:

10+ years of progressive experience in residential construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role Proven success managing large-scale construction teams and multi-community operations Deep understanding of production homebuilding, scheduling systems, and quality control processes Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience leading change management initiatives, especially in newly structured or reorganized environments Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
