Overview:
The Director, Automation Engineering is responsible fordevelopment and execution of key automation solutions at Asurion’sTechnical Logistic Center and associated locations. This roleensures that current and future automation delivers their designedtechnical and value solutions. The Director, Automation Engineeringwill lead a team of Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers toachieve these objectives:1. Deliver Automation Vision, Mission &Strategy for fulfillment and logistics operations, develop roadmapto drive current and future business goals and performance in thisspace.2. Lead Operations Automation Research & Development, usinginternal and external partners to deliver the vision and strategy3.Execute Operational Implementation to deliver capability that meetsor exceeds all defined metrics and benefit4. Performance Managementof Global Automation Solutions to meet or exceed businessdeliverables5. They will be responsible for measurement and communication ofsystem performance and collaborating with key partners to ensureautomation is achieving desired goals.
The Director, AutomationEngineering will lead and develop engineers and technicians toaddress specific issues and projects related to various automationon-boarding or challenges. This role will be part of a broader teamthat does research and business cases for future automationopportunities and needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, deploy, and support automation solutions to improveOps capability and productivity, drive repair device costreduction, and win client business. Ownership of strategy, research & development, and roadmap forfuture automation and integration. Responsible for implementation and integration of automatedsolutions into a production environment. Develop dashboards, monitor KPIs, and address gaps to expectedperformance. Drive the development and implementation of Asurion process andproduct enhancements with the vendor including continuousimprovement, new implementations, and process evolution. Internal coordination owner for Level 3 support and issueresolution beyond standard maintenance tasks andtroubleshooting Provide holistic system knowledge for automations interactionacross multiple process owners (IT, Operations, Maintenance,external automation vendors/integrators) Own and manage contractual obligations and SLAs with the vendorincluding metrics/KPIs, downtime, throughput, and reporting toensure that all current client commitments are met on time withzero defects. Perform people leader duties to lead a team of engineers andtechnicians including assigning work, developing skills, insuringprojects are completed at the required quantity, quality, andtimeliness. Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships bothinternally at Asurion and externally with automationvendor/contactors, at appropriate levels Leverage knowledge of Asurion’s products, processes, and clientcommitments to anticipate and prevent issues caused by changes orinterruptions, work with vendor to mitigate risk ofdisruption. Partner with Data Analytics to drive the development andimplementation of all Asurion reporting and analysis efforts forvendor monitoring.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; or equivalentindustry experience with alternate degree 10+ years’ experience working with / implementing automatedsolutions in manufacturing or supply chain environment Ability to develop knowledge of Asurion systems, platforms andprocesses, and the ability to clearly articulate system or processfunctionality and capabilities for both internal and externalteams Breadth & depth of knowledge to manage implementation ofprogram changes, product enhancements Ability to leverage data appropriately and an understanding ofsensitivity surrounding program metrics; solid analyticalskills Ability to build consensus cross-functionally to achieveresults; strong bias for action Understanding of the legal & regulatory framework of extendedwarranty products and experience leveraging Asurion’s legal andregulatory groups to manage program operations Ability to present highly complex processes at a manageriallevel and internal operational meetings Strong relationship management skills; proven ability toinfluence colleagues from all business functions Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written skills This position requires the ability to read, write, analyze andinterpret complex instructions, correspondence, legal documents,financial reports and/or technical documents in English. Thisposition also requires the ability to respond effectively toclients and management and handle sensitive and/or confidentialcommunications.
