Architecture and Engineering Cobb EMC Overview Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Engineering & Planning to lead the development and maintenance of a cost-effective, reliable electrical distribution system by developing and overseeing construction work plans, coordinating the deployment of system protection and operational technologies, and the coordination of construction and maintenance projects. This role is responsible for driving innovation and shaping a forward-thinking vision to ensure system reliability that meets future demands. Additionally, it focuses on enhancing, developing, and implementing process improvement procedures and standards to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Learn more HERE To learn more about Cobb EMC visit our website at www.cobbemc.com Responsibilities What you will be doing: Distribution System Design and Staking Ensure the distribution system is designed and staked in accordance with corporate and NESC specifications. Maintain knowledge of Pole and Line design software such as pole Foreman, O’Calc etc. Ensure engineers are kept abreast of the latest developments in GIS, CIS, WMS, GPS, Surveying and design tools Coordinate Engineering personnel, resources, and materials. Maintain and communicate current knowledge of changes, procedures, and improvements impacting system design. Ensure appropriate right-of-way acquisitions. Ensure accurate preparation of fault current calculations for members, as requested. Ensure accurate cost estimates for facility relocations and required commercial deposits are obtained. Ensure all joint use contracts are maintained and properly followed Electric Material and Devices Serve as the Chairperson of the Construction Specification Committee. Ensure that the Construction Specification Book / Manual is kept up to date. Ensure that the Material Specifications are kept up to date. Collaborate with operations to explore new devices, switchgears, cables, conductors, and poles. System Protection & Coordination Ensuring system protection & coordination schemes are effective. Ensure relay database files and templates are up to date and effectively organized in SEL’s BlueFrame. Ensure protection settings with Time Current Curves (TCC) for protection devices are timely available. Collaborate with Apparatus and SCADA teams to map SCADA Points from filed devices and RTAC. Coordinate system protection and ARC Flash system studies . System Planning Develop effective short- and long-range engineering construction work plans. Perform system engineering studies to complete planning reports. Ensure system configuration, bus data, and load growth data is up to date. Perform load flow and effective capacitor studies. Ensure the system is optimized to minimize line losses and outage time. Perform short circuit and flicker calculations and assist staking engineers in sizing transformers. Provide technical assistance and support to Engineering personnel Design and Co-ordinate substation construction with GTC and Cobb EMC. Assist in developing innovative ways to implement self-healing and automatic throw-over schemes Analysis & Quality Control Ensure workorders and as-builts are effectively tracked and processed. Validate data synchronizations among the systems. Analyze GTC’s DCOS study and optimize the load balancing to minimize the DCOS. Collaborate with Power Control to ensure effective peak shaving to minimize Transmission Capacity charges. Analyze RUS 219 report with corresponding construction work plans. Ensure effective and accurate reliability data is available for benchmark studies. Budget and Construction Work Plan Prepare the departmental annual budget and construction work plan. Ensure effective material forecast. Ensure workorders are effectively tracked and resolve any pending workorder issues. Monitor estimates and actual expenditures per workorder and per workplan codes. Collaborate with the accounting department for an effective and accurate expenditure forecast related to construction work plan codes. Process Improvements Guides the implementation and coordination of process improvements for the Electric Operations Division. Design processes and workflows that maximize efficiency and comply with regulatory and audit requirements. Evaluate the processes and tools for risk assessment and benefits analysis. Effectively work with project stakeholders to ensure engagement, effective communication and to meet project deadlines. Anticipate and plan for process integration opportunities that support business objectives. Member Inquiries Ensure that customer inquiries are promptly, courteously, and professionally addressed. Minimize inquiries forwarded to higher management for final decision, approval, or response. Investigate and recommend solutions to all customer complaints. Supervision Manage all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring, promotion, training, and termination. Appropriately document actions in employment issues. Coach and direct learning through direct involvement and reinforcement. Analyze and manage daily workload and schedules. Monitor performance and conduct performance planning and review sessions.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Minimum 7 years of experience with electrical distribution system design. Knowledge of RUS Engineering construction specifications. Knowledge of National Electric Safety Codes Previous experience with power distribution analysis software Previous experience with Pole Line Design software such as Pole Foreman, O’Calc etc. Demonstrated knowledge of load flow analysis, setting up TCC curves in software such as CYMTCC, ETAP, MILSOFT, etc. Certified as an Engineer in Training (EIT) Obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within four years of hire Previous supervisory experience. Previous project management and construction workplan implementation experience. Previous experience in budgeting, directing programs with frequent interpersonal contact, and measuring program results. Knowledge of NESC and local electric codes, retail rate schedules and structures, and corporate policies and procedures.
