???? Atlanta, GA | Hybrid – 4 days in office, Fridays remote Join a fast-growing, product-driven company where packaging innovation drives retail success. We’re searching for a strategic, hands-on Director of Packaging Engineering to lead our packaging programs and drive improvements across the global supply chain. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll shape the team, guide process excellence, and influence product integrity — all while working cross-functionally with global vendors and internal stakeholders.
What You’ll Do Lead & Develop :
Manage and mentor a team of packaging engineers. Drive execution across supplier packaging steps, internal packaging protocols, and continuous improvement efforts.
Drive Strategy :
Own and advance key packaging initiatives — from cost savings and damage reduction to sustainability, safety, and supplier quality.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally :
Work closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Legal, Inventory, and Store Operations to align on packaging priorities and performance. Own the
Process :
Build and maintain SOPs, packaging specifications, Pre-Purchase Testing protocols, First Piece Inspections, audits, and supplier scorecards. Innovate in
Real Time :
Monitor packaging performance in the field and act fast when issues arise — whether it’s a failed drop test or a pallet collapse.
Travel Globally :
Visit international suppliers to audit packaging processes and champion compliance and best practices. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Engineering, or a technical field (preferred) 5+ years of experience in packaging, ideally within retail or manufacturing Strong leadership and team management experience Hands-on knowledge of
ISTA/ASTM
standards, testing methods, and packaging design Strategic mindset with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage vendor relationships Experience with international suppliers and 3rd-party testing firms Excellent communication skills — able to explain technical ideas to non-technical partners Advanced Excel skills; Six Sigma training preferred Why Join Floor & Decor? ????

W orking Conditions (travel, hours, environment) Develop internal and external communications including: FAQs, associate training materials, executive, and supplier communications Develop and manage policies and standard operating procedures (SOP) relating to packaging Physical/Sensory Requirements Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 – 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
