Overview:
The Vice President of Community Infrastructure leads and grows the public sector civil engineering practice, overseeing the delivery of a wide range of community infrastructure projects, including transportation, sidewalks, trails, drainage systems, linear water/wastewater infrastructure, and parks. This role is responsible for strategic growth, client development, project execution, and team leadership, ensuring exceptional service delivery across all community infrastructure disciplines.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and grow the Community Infrastructure practice, ensuring excellence across all service areas, including local transportation, sidewalks, trails, drainage infrastructure, linear water/wastewater utilities, and parks projects. Oversee and provide strategic direction for the planning, design, and execution of diverse civil engineering projects for public sector clients. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with municipalities, counties, state agencies, and special districts. Ensure projects are delivered with a focus on quality, innovation, timeliness, and budget adherence. Drive strategic planning initiatives and contribute to setting short- and long-term goals for the business unit. Lead and mentor project managers, engineers, and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and accountability. Support business development efforts through client engagement, proposal development, interviews, and project pursuit strategies. Maintain expertise in industry trends, regulatory changes, funding mechanisms, and best practices related to community infrastructure projects. Collaborate across business units to leverage firmwide capabilities and support multidisciplinary initiatives. Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, and public forums to enhance visibility and strengthen client relationships.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required. 15 + years of progressive civil engineering experience with an emphasis on public sector infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects and multidisciplinary teams. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations and funding processes for public works. Proven success in client development, retention, and project pursuit strategies. Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to see the “big picture” while managing day-to-day operations. Experience in business planning, budgeting, and financial management.
