Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to lead critical downtime repair efforts, manage high-volume, low-cost capital projects, and drive the standardization of equipment across multiple industrial facilities. This role plays a vital part in reducing operational downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring consistency in facility infrastructure and equipment. Candidates should have a strong background in industrial or chemical construction, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight
- Lead downtime repair and low-cost capital projects from planning to completion, aligning with organizational objectives.
- Create and manage comprehensive project plans detailing scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Site Management
- Oversee repair and standardization work across multiple industrial locations.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate work quality, enforce safety standards, and verify compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution. Equipment Standardization
- Support the development and rollout of standardized systems and equipment across facilities.
- Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to identify standardization opportunities that improve performance and reduce repair variability.
- Ensure specifications align with industry best practices and internal reliability standards. Budget and Resource Management
- Develop, manage, and report on project budgets for downtime repairs and capital improvements.
- Negotiate vendor and subcontractor agreements to ensure cost-effective project execution. Team Leadership
- Direct and mentor onsite project teams to foster a collaborative, safety-conscious, and results-driven culture.
- Host regular stakeholder meetings to provide project updates, resolve issues, and align goals. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all activities meet local, state, federal, and corporate regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate permitting and inspections with applicable regulatory bodies. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, reports, and change orders.
- Deliver regular updates to senior management regarding project progress, risks, and milestones. Risk Management
- Evaluate risks associated with repair and standardization initiatives and develop mitigation and response strategies.
- Enforce safety compliance and lead the implementation of robust safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience managing industrial downtime repair and capital improvement projects, preferably in chemical or industrial environments.
Skills:
- In-depth understanding of equipment standardization, maintenance best practices, safety regulations, and operational efficiencies.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in project management tools such as MS Project and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel:
- Willingness to travel extensively (50-75%) for project oversight at multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification.
- Experience in chemical processing or industrial facilities focused on maintenance and equipment upgrades.
- Familiarity with API standards and related safety protocols.
- Understanding of Lean principles for optimizing repair and standardization efficiency.
