Civil and Environmental Engineering; +1 Mechanical Engineering Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) seeks a dynamic and dedicated faculty member to serve as the Instructor and Program Director for our Associate of Science (AS) in Engineering program. This full-time position is responsible for the total oversight, instruction, and daily management of BPCC’s premier, academically rigorous engineering program. As the Program Director, the selected candidate will lead an immersive and hands-on learning experience that equips students with the foundational knowledge, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities necessary to excel in the field of engineering. The AS in Engineering program at BPCC is a transfer-focused “2+2” pathway, allowing students to complete their first two years of engineering coursework before seamlessly transitioning to one of our university partners, including Louisiana Tech University, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU-Baton Rouge, among others, to complete the final two years of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Throughout this program, students gain real-world experience by building prototypes, conducting research, and developing solutions to pressing industry challenges. In small, student-centered classes, they engage in collaborative projects, professional development, and leadership opportunities through student organizations. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering principles while emphasizing practical applications in areas such as mechanics, thermodynamics, circuits, and materials science. The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about mentorship, academic excellence, and student success, ensuring that graduates are prepared to continue their education and ultimately contribute to the engineering profession. Additionally, the Program Director will champion innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethical engineering practices, fostering an environment where students are equipped to meet the evolving demands of businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver engaging and effective lecture and laboratory instruction in undergraduate engineering courses, including statics, thermodynamics, materials, computer-aided design, circuits, and other related courses.
Participate in the development, review, and revision of the engineering curriculum to ensure it remains current and relevant.
Participate in the oversight of engineering laboratories, including preparation of materials, maintenance of equipment, and ensuring a safe learning environment.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, including guidance on academic pathways and career opportunities in various engineering fields.
Procure and then maintain ABET program accreditation, compliance and assessment standards, and ensure alignment with institutional and transfer partner expectations.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with transfer institutions (Louisiana Tech, UL-Lafayette, LSU, etc.), ensuring seamless transitions for graduates, and grow the network of transfer institutions.
Develop and oversee student recruitment, retention, and completion strategies, working to increase program visibility and enrollment.
Organize and promote engineering competitions, industry guest lectures, and professional workshops to enrich student experiences.
Develop and support student organizations, professional development opportunities, and leadership programs within the engineering field.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field of engineering and effective teaching methodologies.
Participate in Division and College committees and meetings and contribute to community outreach and recruitment efforts.
Meet expectations as a faculty member as described in the full-time faculty agreement.
Use the College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) to accurately track student progress, grades, and attendance.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:

Master’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. PhD in the field discipline preferred.
Prior teaching experience in engineering coursework at the undergraduate level is highly desirable. Experience in curriculum development and laboratory management is a plus.
A proven track record of delivering high-quality online instruction is highly advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success and collaborative work with colleagues across all departments and Divisions.
Ability to work flexible hours and autonomously.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering mathematics and calculus, general engineering principles, statics and equilibrium analysis, stress-strain relationships and mechanical properties, analysis and design of mechanical members, pressure vessels and Mohr’s circle, deflection in beams, basic circuit analysis, network theorems and simplification, phasors and AC circuit solutions, power and electronic applications, laws of thermodynamics, thermal properties and heat transfer, mechanical vibrations and dynamics, material science and selection, computational and numerical methods, computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting, instrumentation and measurement techniques, multidisciplinary team collaboration and communication, and engineering licensure and career pathways.
Proficiency with educational technology, including online learning platforms, is essential.
Ability to be an active part of instructional and non-instructional activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 30 pounds.
Dexterity to handle laboratory tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on demonstrations.
Occasional travel is required in an automobile for up to 5 hours at a time, with some overnight stays.
