Responsibilities:
Process Design Engineer role focus on development, optimization and technical follow-up of facilities design specifications. Initial work assignments will focus on applying process design work processes to enable successful delivery of capital projects at one or more asset. Stage 1/2 (Planning/Select) Participate in the development of the process facilities basis definition to a Gate 1 and 2 quality Provide input to economic analyses of project alternatives Apply Right Scope principles and Value Improving Practices to achieving an optimized capital investment Perform equipment ratings, incorporate safety considerations and field verifications, and early equipment sizing Interface and provide input to cost & schedule estimates, execution basis Provide input and/or develop the FEED plan with the Project Development Manager Stage 3 (Define) Perform optimization studies, field verifications, and equipment sizing Develop the design specification, interfacing with other disciplines to ensure technical quality and completeness of facilities definition. Develop and maintain Heat & Material Balances, PFDs and preliminary Flow Plans / P&IDs Support contractor(s)in FEED and design specification development. Interface and provide input to cost & schedule estimates, execution plans Stage 4 (Execute) Provide oversight and quality control on EPC contractor deliverables. Identify any deviations to the Design Specifications and ensure they undergo the appropriate deviation review and approval process Participate in and contribute to facilities and systems reviews and resolutions as required,including
P&D, HAZOP, 3D
Model, and Protective Systems Reviews Participate in field-based activities to support systems completion, turnover, and start-up The Project Manager of Development (PMD) scope involves the opportunity to engage in multiple different disciplines during development of a project (typically up to Gate 3). Leads all parts of project development on behalf of the Project Executive, by assembling and leading a project team through the pre-Gate 3 project arrow phases Sets key Gate dates and develops schedule to appropriate definition to support project goals/timelines, including aligning with possible plant outage timing Partners with Technical Point of Contact (TPC)/STEP Lead (to define work, risks and appropriate mitigations associated with the project. Develops and arranges endorsement of Project Road Map with input from key stakeholders Plans and ensures project reviews are completed on time and to the required quality Ensures stakeholder alignment on project objective and strategies, concept selection, overall schedule and project cost and value delivery. Responsible for championing and driving project competitiveness, operability and safe design. Ensure that benchmarking and cost estimating support is provided for projects. PMD’s supporting projects virtually will leverage relationships with site-based company personnel and/or hatted contractors to safely develop projects that meet business needs. Monitors and appraises Contractor(s) execution against plans and specifications, and participates in developing improvement plans to close gaps in performance May provide business planning & economics support for portfolio projects May provide facilities planning support for pre-Gate 1 projects Supports the project issue management plan and stewards appropriate actions to resolution. Stewards project, functional, business and other discipline support to ensure timely completion of reviews, resolution of technical queries and required actions, manages development phase budget.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with 10+ years of experience in a similar industry. Expertise to delivery Process Design and Project Manager of Development. Experience in the development of design process development during FEED & engineering. PMD (Project Manager of Development)/Project Management experience. Skilled in process engineering software such as Pro2 and ISIS. Project tools – planning & scheduling will be a plus. Experience in brownfield projects would be a plus.
