DescriptionAs a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager at Amazon, you will spearhead a diverse array of high-impact projects that span multiple business areas across North America primarily in Robotics projects. Your role will be pivotal in driving innovation, creating scalable solutions, and embodying Amazon’s principle of inventing and simplifying. You’ll be at the forefront of identifying and executing initiatives that not only enhance efficiencies, but also significantly improve customer experience in both Launch and Operational site projects. In this dynamic position, you’ll leverage your technical acumen to critically evaluate proposals, challenge assumptions, and develop robust plans with clear, quantifiable success metrics. Your ability to navigate ambiguity and solve complex problems will be crucial as you proactively identify and mitigate risks before they escalate into significant obstacles. A key aspect of your role will involve harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to drive quicker outcomes. You’ll explore and implement AI-driven solutions to optimize project management, streamline decision-making processes, and enhance predictive analytics for risk assessment. This could involve developing machine learning models to forecast project timelines more accurately or implementing AI-powered tools to automate routine tasks, allowing your team to focus on higher-value activities. Your responsibilities will extend to managing projects across various geographic locations, necessitating seamless coordination of both on-site and remote work. As the primary point of contact for the project team, you’ll use your exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with key stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and outcomes. You’ll be instrumental in creating scalable solutions that can be replicated across Amazon’s vast network. This might involve standardizing best practices, developing modular project frameworks, or creating automated systems that can adapt to different site requirements with minimal customization. Your work will directly contribute to Amazon’s agility and ability to stay at the cutting edge of deployments. Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and manage multiple IT projects from beginning to end, including scope, timeline, hardware procurement, resource allocation, and execution while coordinating remote work with field teams.
  • Provide direction to ensure the project teams have a clear expectation of timelines, risks, escalation path and roles they will undertake within the program team.
  • Act as an escalation point for project teams and stakeholders in order to manage risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain knowledge regarding hardware and equipment standards to ensure appropriate equipment orders are procured.
  • Identify and manage program needs and critical paths while maintaining accurate plans with real-time milestone, task and health data for all your initiatives in our Project Management tools.
  • Provide on-site monitoring and enforcement of installation schedules and vendor quality, inspect prospective and completed facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures, and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Facilitate formal turn-over with onsite team, support partners and monitor deliverables until launch/project milestone is achieved.
  • Daily partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Update or develop documentation on processes that are critical to successfully implementing your projects.

A day in the life A typical day for a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager at Amazon involves extensive collaboration and coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders. The morning might begin with reviewing project timelines and addressing any urgent issues that arose overnight. Throughout the day, you’ll engage in meetings with Low Voltage Contractors to discuss installation progress, General Contractors to align on construction schedules, and Local IT teams to ensure proper integration of new systems. Spending time working with Launch Execution teams to prepare for upcoming site launches, reviewing hardware procurement needs, and updating project management tools with the latest milestones and task statuses.   • 2+ yrs experience managing IT programs from initiation to closure.
  • Understanding of core IT infrastructure and service concepts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or 2+ years of Amazon experience
  • Program management training, PMP or Prince2 certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel frequently within assigned region (30-40%)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate-level knowledge in one or more of the following: LAN, WAN, Wireless, Telecommunications,
  • Systems Administration, Low voltage data cabling, or data facilities technologies.
  • Exemplary communication skills, managing conflict, escalations, negotiating compromise and influencing others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across organizational structures and multiple management levels.
  • Ability to successfully facilitate collaboration across multiple functions, departments, and levels, and serve as a role model for teamwork.
  • Site launch experience of IT infrastructure (WLAN, LAN, end user equipment) in retail, distribution, logistics or similar.
  • Experience with procurement of IT equipment.

The base pay for this position ranges from $85,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
