POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Strategic Initiatives (DSI) is a senior leader responsible for shaping and driving the long-term strategic direction of the organization. This role works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and leadership team to develop and execute initiatives that support growth, sustainability, and innovation across the health center’s programs and services. The Director provides leadership in market research, business development, and strategic planning, ensuring the organization is well-positioned to meet evolving community needs, expand access to care, and respond to shifts in the healthcare landscape. In addition to overseeing strategic initiatives, the role plays a critical part in supporting Board governance and ensuring compliance with HRSA and other regulatory requirements. This is a highly collaborative role that requires a visionary thinker with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, and the ability to drive cross-functional projects from concept to completion.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic Initiatives & Market Development Lead the development, execution, and monitoring of the organization’s strategic plan in alignment with the Executive Director and Board. Lead team to conduct market research, community needs assessments, and business intelligence analysis to identify opportunities for growth and service line expansion. Develop business plans and financial models to support strategic initiatives, including new services, partnerships, and capital investments/sites. Translate data insights into strategic priorities and operational planning across departments. Guide cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic projects, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and metrics are met. Monitor trends in the healthcare industry, identifying external shifts and competitor activities that may impact the organization. Support revenue growth and sustainability goals for emerging markets and strategic programs. Board of Directors Support Coordinate preparation of Board meeting materials including agendas, reports, and supporting documentation. Maintain official records including Board minutes, ensuring compliance with governance standards and timely review of documents. Serve as liaison between the Executive Director and Board, supporting effective communication and transparency regarding organizational initiatives. Track and report on strategic initiatives and organizational progress to the Board and relevant committees. Compliance and Regulation Oversee compliance with HRSA and FQHC program requirements and lead OSV efforts. Stay current on relevant federal, state, and local regulations and ensure policies and operations reflect up-to-date standards. Lead preparations for site visits, audits, and performance reviews, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address compliance issues and support continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. BA required. Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, healthcare administration, or business development, preferably within an FQHC or similar healthcare setting. 1+ years of leadership experience Proven track record of leading and implementing complex strategic initiatives across functional teams. Experience working with Boards of Directors and senior leadership teams in a high-accountability environment. Demonstrated ability to lead organization-wide strategy development and implementation. Experience developing and executing market assessments, service line expansions, capital planning, and business development strategies. Strong understanding of healthcare industry trends, particularly in underserved or emerging markets. Proven ability to assess health sector data and client-level data to drive decisions related to supply, demand, and market shifts. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both customers, consultants and engineers. Demonstrate ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, PowerBI and Share Point) & Adobe Acrobat.
